Does God’s Will Still Exist In Making Marriage Choices?

Hello there! Happy new year to you, and I declare this is your best year so far; Amen!

What some people are saying…

In counselling and relating with young people, I have heard a recurrent statement that goes thus…”God doesn’t choose a spouse for anyone anymore because when he gave Eve to Adam (the 1st man and woman) and Eve gave Adam the forbidden fruit to eat, Adam eventually accused God that it was the woman He gave to him who led him to sin.”
The proponents of such statement claim that since that event in the garden of Eden, God has quit guiding people to choose a spouse. Rather, God expects us to just “shine our eyes” like they say in the local Nigerian parlance and make our choices, without any recourse to Him.

Laughable, don’t you think?! I must say that the claims made above are entirely false and just a trick of the devil to lead such people to make life-threatening mistakes.
Well, yours honestly is writing this article to debunk this erroneous belief and set the records straight.

God’s Will…..

God’s will can be described as God’s desire for a person or people as it pertains to various aspects of life.
Let me state here that knowing and choosing God’s will is the foundation for TRUE SUCCESS in all facets of our lives. I can truly attest to this fact because I wholeheartedly sought God’s will in my marriage choices and other aspects of my life, and that decision has paid off in many more ways than you can imagine.

Proofs That God Still Desires That We Seek His Will In Our Choices

  • God is the author and creator of marriage, thus, He is interested in its success [see Bible – Genesis 2:18-25]
  • God led Abraham’s servant to pick a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac; after the episode of Adam and Eve [see Bible – Genesis 24:2-4, 12-13]
  • God always wants His will to prevail in our lives [see Bible – Proverbs 19:21]
  • God wants you to trust in Him to direct you to make the right choices [see Bible – Proverbs 3:5-6]
  • Jesus Christ, the son of God, sought and did only the will of God, His father, not His own will [see Bible – John 5:30; Luke 22:42]

Finally…Know This, Know Peace!

Your will and God’s will about any matter are always in contention whenever you want to make a decision; you need to decide which you will obey. [see Bible – Galatians 5:16-17]

God wants THE BEST FOR YOU – in fact, that is HIS WILL FOR YOU [see Bible – Jeremiah 29:11]. Therefore, He knows the best person (choice) for you among many available options, because the truth is that not every guy or lady out there is the best for you.

Thus, this is why you must seek His will for you about the choice of a married spouse.

God is still in the business of choosing spouses for people; hence you need to submit to His will.

See you at the top!
